Reform and Liberal Easter Sleepover

North West Surrey Synagogue and Kingston Liberal Synagogue held a joint sleepover at KLS over Easter Half Term, which provided young members from both shuls with a rare chance to meet and spend valuable time together. The theme of the 24 hour sleepover was ‘Get Lost’, focusing on the time between Pesach and Shavuot where the Children of Israel were on their way to the Promised Land.

Apart from engaging our young members with this exciting programme we were spoiled with scrumptious food provided by Maggie, our chef. Leaders from both shuls helped us create a mini community full of fun and plenty of enjoyable activities, including: a wide game, shacharit with Rabbi Charley, peulot and much more.

Alicia Zissman, a chanicha from KLS said, ‘’It was really cool being with guys from NWSS, who I’d never met before’’.

Jacob Jankel, a chanich from NWSS remarked, ‘’It was great to see the two communities come together, and meet some new madrichim’’.

This could not have been done without the tireless efforts and boundless enthusiasm of leaders from both shuls.
We are all excited by the prospect of establishing more joint events in the next youth calendar.

The next event that will be run is the annual Summer Week at NWSS from 23 – 28 August, but keep an eye out for further events coming your way.

‘’It’s not your duty to complete the task, but neither are you to desist from it…’’
